As we look to the future, I reflect fondly back on what we were able to achieve during our first forty years as a collaborative design studio. Jack and I not only grew the firm, but we also expanded our reach beyond Pittsburgh – regionally, nationally, and internationally. We were able to accomplish this by holding dear to our tenets – exceptional design, placing our customers first, instilling creativity in our design studio, and carefully nurturing partnerships with allied professionals. LBA is not a business, but a passion. Jack and I had one basic litmus test for all our decisions – what was best for the advancement of LaQuatra Bonci Associates. We had different work approaches, different design styles, and different views on many things, but what we created together was special, and we did what was best to nurture, grow, and enhance what we did. To us, we were always wanting to be better and accomplish more.
I cherish the many personal memories and moments and celebrate the professional honors and accomplishments. One of the saddest days was when Jack decided to retire. I miss his creativity, his mentorship, and his passion for his work. I miss him sitting beside me. There are many days that I channel my Jack LaQuatra inspiration. Although not here daily, he is an important part of our office. Now Partner Emeritus, we seek his guidance, knowledge, and creativity whenever possible. For this reason, LBA Landscape Architecture will always be LaQuatra Bonci Associates in our hearts and minds.
